Mittersill is the capital of "Oberpinzgau" and the Hohe Tauern National Park, and is located at about 790 meters above sea level. Located between the National Park Hohe Tauern and the Kitzbühel Alps Mittersill is a popular holiday destination. The nearby Panorama-lift in Hollersbach brings you directly into the ski-area of "Kitzbühel" with over 160 km of slopes. Numerous cross-country skiing tracks, winter hiking trails and tobogganing are also available. All gondolas and cable cars are also in operation in summer and offer a great and varied range of hiking trails. Some lakes and golf courses are accessible by car or public transport in no time.

In the immediate vicinity is the village of Stuhlfelden, at the foot of the 2,363 meter high Gaißsteins, the highest grass-mountain in Europe. Stuhlfelden is the 1st Archery Village in Europe!
